8 months of cumulative practice...
3 months of intense practice schedules...
11 exuberant dancers...
All for 1 Grand Event...Kalki "the messiah".
Kalki, the dance-drama-musical stage show was the launch vehicle for Agni; dance company redefined. There were 8 dances performed to famous Indian movie cinema songs, including a western jazz number.
The first was the artistic, power song "Dol Dol", from the movie "Ayudha Ezhuthu". Per screenplay, it is a regular practice session held at a home-dance studio. The dancers involved were Harish, Prakash, Nate, Gayatri and Vaishnavi.
The second was the vindictive 2 on 1 matchup "Kaakha Kaakha". The girls give the guy a hard time, with classy, imposing moves of pure intimidation. The dancers involved were Prakash, Soumya and Charanya.
The third song was the retro-remix "Vasantha Mullai", from the movie "Pokkiri". This is a very expressive, folk beat song. The lead guy dreams of his girl, with his friend's support in the background. The Mythological Love-God, Lord Krishna steps out to the crowd's applause, to appease the lover boy and show him direction. The dancers involved were Harish, Prakash, Nate, Srini and Ram.
The fourth was the spicy-mass song "Saroja Saaman Nikkaalo", from the movie "Chennai 600028". Made to every Tamil-speaking guys desire; local-fast-colorful. It is set at a beach, crashing a North Indian wedding. The dancers involved were Harish, Prakash, Nate, Srini, Ram, Aparna and Krishna.
The fifth was the crowd-favorite 80's superhit-dream-romance song "Pothi Vaccha Malligah Mottu". This was the best song, due to the amount of creativity involved. Dreamy-Cheesy. The dancers involved were Harish, Soumya, Charanya, Gayatri and Vaishnavi.
The sixth song was the jazzy western all-girls number. Very hip song that seemed to interest the male audience. The dancers involved were Soumya, Charanya, Gayatri and Vaishnavi.
The seventh was the lop-sided love dream-sequence retro-remake song "Ahaa Vanthuduchu", from the movie "Vallavan". Set on the roads of Chennai, the dance involves school girls, maamaas and food-vendor girls as background dancers. The guy is filled with feelings of infactuation, on seeing his girl. The dancers involved were Charanya, Prakash, Nate, Gayatri, Vaishnavi, Harish and Krishna.
The Grand Finale was the Suave, Stylish song from the Superstar movie "Sivaji", "Athiradee Kaalam". Four pairs, dancing to a super-hit sing, to win the prize at a high-profile high-visibility dance competition. The dancers involved were Harish, Prakash, Nate, Mohan, Soumya, Charanya, Gayatri and Vaishnavi.
We had a full house of close to 500 people. It was and is the talk of the town. Never has a Indian stage show been performed to this Magnitude, Gravity and Success in Austin, TX.
